Kyle Davies, Lead Pastor of Generations Church, shared a powerful story from their recent Pathway: A Disciple-Making Journey training that shows the model—Learn it, Live it, Lead it—in action.
Community Gatherings of Encouragement
Two cohorts from Generations Church are already putting this into practice. Participants have been opening their home once a month so anyone in the groups can gather, pray, and encourage one another to “keep going.” These gatherings are a tangible way the training model is being lived—listening to God, stepping out in faith, and supporting others to do the same.
A Prayer and a Prompting
At one recent gathering, Bob was praying to grow in grace and find more ways to connect with people. Meanwhile, Gabe, who attended Pathway and learned how to respond to God’s leading, felt prompted to help Craig, a man experiencing homelessness, by offering his RV so Craig could get back on his feet. Craig described his struggle with sobriety as a “concrete wall of opportunity changing to a thin piece of paper”—a moment where hope finally seemed possible.
Faith in Action
Without Craig knowing, Gabe asked Bob if the RV could be parked on Bob’s property. Together, they prayed, stayed open to God’s leading, and took action—measuring and planning until it worked. In just two weeks, Craig will move from being unsheltered to having a safe place to stay.
